Getting paid
How do I get paid when someone pays me?
Two ways, and you pick the one that suits you. Connect your own Stripe account (Pro and Pro+) and the money goes straight to you, with no fee from us. Or use Super Basic's payments, where we handle it for you and a small fee applies. Either way it works the same across every app you use.
What are the fees?
If you connect your own account, we take nothing. You just pay Stripe's normal card-processing fees, the same as using Stripe directly.
If you use Super Basic's payments, the fee is 5% plus 50p per payment on Free, and 5% plus 20p per payment on Pro and Pro+. That already includes the card-processing cost, so there is nothing else to pay on top.
Do I set up payments separately in each app?
No. You connect a payment account once and it works in every Super Basic app you use, such as payup, entry, bookin, justinvoice and tsb.bio. You switch it on in each app, you do not reconnect it.
When do I get my money?
If you use your own account, payouts follow your own Stripe schedule, straight to your bank.
If you use Super Basic's payments, the money builds up as a balance you can see in your billing area, added up across every app. You withdraw it to your bank whenever it reaches £10 or more. Standard withdrawals are free and usually arrive within one to two working days.
VAT
Do your prices include VAT?
We are not VAT registered yet, so there is no VAT on our prices right now. When we do register, our prices will not change. We will absorb the VAT ourselves, so you keep paying the same amount.
Will VAT be added on top of my plan later?
No. When we become VAT registered, the price you pay stays the same. Your receipts will simply show the VAT included within the existing price.
Price changes
Can your prices change over time?
Yes, they can go up. Our prices track rising costs such as inflation and housing and running costs. That means they can move upwards over time, and we do not bring them back down afterwards. Any plan you are already paying for stays at its current price until your next renewal.
Will my price go up without warning?
No. If we change the price of a plan you are on, the new price takes effect from your next renewal, and we make the change clear to you before you renew. Your price never changes part way through a period you have already paid for.
Refunds
How do I refund a customer?
You issue the refund yourself from inside the app where you took the payment. The money goes back to your customer's original card through Stripe. You are in control of your own refund policy with your customers.
If I refund a customer, do I get the Super Basic fee back?
When you refund a payment, we return the percentage part of our fee to you. The fixed part (for example the 20p or 50p) is not returned, because the card-processing cost has already been paid to Stripe and cannot be recovered. This matches how Stripe itself handles refunds.
Can I get a refund on my Super Basic plan?
Yes. If you are on a paid plan, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of starting it, in line with your rights under UK consumer law. After 14 days you can still cancel at any time, keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again after that.
How do refunds work across the different apps?
The same way everywhere. Wherever you took the payment, that is where you issue the refund, and it goes back to the customer's original payment method. Fees and payouts follow the same rules in every app.
If a customer disputes a payment
What happens if a customer disputes a payment with their bank?
If a customer disputes a payment, known as a chargeback, the amount can be taken back, along with any dispute fee. This works the same as it does with Stripe directly, and we will always show you what has happened.
Closing your account
What happens to my balance if I close my account?
We pay your remaining balance out to your linked bank account, and then close the account. We cannot finish closing while there is money waiting to be paid, a payment still settling, or no bank details on file, so your money is never lost or left behind.
Keeping your money safe
Who actually handles the money?
Payments are processed by Stripe, a regulated payments provider used by millions of businesses. Your customers' card details, and your own bank details for payouts, are handled securely by Stripe. Super Basic does not see or store full card numbers.
What currency do you work in?
Prices and payouts are in pounds sterling (GBP).
